No students in school Tuesday, Feb. 9.   Conferences from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.  Report cards distributed.

Make-Up Day Set for Monday, Feb. 15
Staff and students will make up for missing Feb. 3 by attending school on Presidents' Day, Monday, Feb. 15. It will be an even day.

School Board Meeting set for Thursday, Feb. 11 in City Council Chambers in the Municipal Building, located at 441 Market St., beginning at 7 p.m. Link here for the agenda materials .

Budget Public Hearing set for Thursday, Feb. 11.
Beginning at 5 p.m., comments and recommendations are invited concerning the proposed operating budget for Suffolk Public Schools for fiscal year 2010-2011. The hearing will be held in City Council Chambers in the Municipal Building, located at 441 Market St. Call 925-6752 for more information on the session. Link here for the budget.

Project Lead the Way
... A parent information session on the "Project Lead The Way – Pathway to Engineering" program will be held Tuesday, Feb. 16 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the auditorium at Nansemond River High School.  "Project Lead the Way" is a program of five challenging courses in grades 9-12 that use project-based, hands-on experience to teach students the key elements and skills of engineering and technology-based careers by immersing them in rigorous engineering problems.  Link here for more information, a brochure and an application for the 2010-11 program.

 

Suffolk Public Schools will co-sponsor a Teacher Recruitment Fair on Saturday, March 27, 2010 from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at King's Fork Middle School. For additional information click here.

Kindergarten Registration for 2010
Suffolk citizens may register their children for the 2010-2011 kindergarten school year on either March 17 or May 19. Parents are invited to visit the schools between 8 am to 5 pm. For a complete list of documents to bring to the registration link here.
